Board of Directors

The following is a brief biographical description, including principal occupation for the last five years, of the directors and officers of the Fund:

Ron CarlsonRon Carlson was the Administrative Vice-President for the SaskWorks Venture Fund Sponsor, the Communications, Energy & Paperworkers' Union, until his retirement in the fall of 2005. Mr. Carlson was a National Staff Representative of the Sponsor and previous to this position he served as an officer of the Sponsor for twelve (12) years plus other positions such as Local Vice-President, Chief Steward and Shop Steward. Mr. Carlson was an active member of the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour on various committees and executive and was intimately involved with the Canadian Labour Congress on the Public Sector Review Committee. Mr. Carlson now provides requisite time to his duties as Chairman of the Fund.
Kevin StangelandKevin Stangeland received his Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Calgary in 1984. Mr. Stangeland articled with Touche Ross & Company and received his chartered accountant designation in 1987. From 1987 to 1993 Mr. Stangeland held various financial and strategic planning positions with North Canadian Oils Ltd., culminating in the position of Director, Project Development. In 1993, Mr. Stangeland co-founded UFR Urban Forest Recyclers Inc., a molded paper products recycling firm located in Swift Current, Saskatchewan and is that company's Chief Executive Officer and President. Mr. Stangeland is Chairman of Churchill Energy Inc., a TSX Venture oil and gas company, and is very active in industry and local organizations.
Pat FieldPat Field is an engineering technologist for TransGas and member of Communications, Energy & Paperworkers' Union of Canada, Local 649. He has been employed by SaskPower and TransGas since 1990. He completed the Canadian Securities Course in 1998. Mr. Field was born in Saskatoon, and raised in Allan, Saskatchewan.
Bryan GlazerBryan Glazer was born and raised in Esterhazy Saskatchewan. Bryan has been employed at Mosaic (Potash Mine) just outside of Esterhazy since the Fall of 1981 and is a member of the Communications, Energy & Paperworkers' Union of Canada, Local 892. Bryan has been very active in the Union holding various positions since 1982 and is currently the President of Local 892.
Bryan HnatiwBryan Hnatiw is the President and CEO of the Ecol Services Group, a Saskatoon, Saskatchewan company he founded in 1992. Ecol Laser is a network printing and digital imaging service business and Ecol Direct provides direct mail and database marketing service. Mr. Hnatiw is currently serving on the University of Saskatchewan Leadership Development Advisory Board, is the Chair of the Saskatoon Market Development Committee and is a board member of the Saskatoon Club. Mr. Hnatiw was the President of the Provincial Exporters Association, the Saskatoon Usadian Executive Association and the North Saskatoon Business Association. Mr. Hnatiw has won several awards for business achievement, including Saskatchewan Young Professional & Entrepreneur - Silver Spade Awards and the Entrepreneur of the Year in 2004; the Saskatoon North Saskatoon Business Association - Small Business of the Year in 2001; Regina Chamber of Commerce - Paragon Awards - Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2000 and the Business Development Bank - Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 1995.
Terry SchneiderTerry Schneider was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. He graduated from the University of Regina in 1980 with a B. Ed majoring in secondary science. Mr. Schneider has been employed by the Consumers Coop Refinery/Upgrader Complex for the past 25 years. He currently sits as a director on the board of Sherwood Co-op Association. Mr. Schneider is the Secretary-Treasurer of Communications, Energy & Paperworkers Union of Canada, Local 594.
Wayne SteadmanWayne Steadman is President of Gene's Ltd., a real estate development company, which position he has held for a period exceeding the last five years. Mr. Steadman held the KFC Franchise for Regina and area from 1958-1991. Mr. Steadman and partners developed 10 Boston Pizza restaurants in Saskatchewan. He is currently a partner in 7 Boston Pizza restaurants in the Hamilton area of Ontario. Mr. Steadman has held a variety of directorships over the years, and has been very active in industry and local organizations.
Wayne SteadmanMichael Fix is the Vice-President, Corporate Development for Concentra Financial; a national financial services company that supports credit unions and corporate clients from coast to coast. Previously, Mr. Fix was General Manager of Concentra Commercial Leasing, the credit union systems nationally branded leasing company. In addition to his experiences on a number of for-profit and not-for-profit Boards, Mr. Fix is a Saskatchewan Government appointee to the Agreement on Internal Trade Dispute Resolution Panel.
Phil PolsomPhil Polsom lives on acreage near Yorkton with his wife Shawna and 2 daughters. He graduated from the Labour College of Canada. He was lead miner with Dynatec Corporation for 11½ years. In 1997 he became the President of CEP Local 890 (a position he still holds) and a year later became the Benefit Administrator. He holds various certificates for Leadership and Steward Courses from CEP as well. Phil is also the current President of the CEP Saskatchewan Area Council.
